GUESS MY AGE, the exciting studio gameshow developed by Vivendi Entertainment in association with Tooco, has been commissioned for a second season by French channel C8, doubling the initial order by an additional 40-episodes, while German broadcaster ARD has ordered 15 weekly episodes to be aired starting in December. In total, 275 episodes of GUESS MY AGE have been commissioned to date.

Vivendi Entertainment is part of Vivendi Content, a wholly-owned Vivendi company aimed at creating new content formats.

In France, the 20-episode first season reached massive ratings in July on C8 (formerly known as D8) with a 6.8% share among 25-49 (+100% vs. slot average), 9.8% among 15-34 (+122%) and 6.5% among Women under 50 (+195%). Airing daily in access primetime, GUESS MY AGE delivered the best performance on C8 in the slot since 2013. The show is produced by Vivendi-owned Flab Prod.

Vivendi Entertainment also confirms that the format, which was launched in April at MIPTV, has successfully premiered in Slovakia where commercial network TV JOJ has started airing two weekly primetime episodes since mid-August, and a run of 100 daily episodes. The first season scored 23.8% of market share to lead the night across all demos, compared to an average of 16.9% in the slot for the month (+41%). Paprika Latino co-produces.

In Germany, public broadcaster ARD has commissioned 15 weekly episodes to be aired in access primetime from December 2, 2016. The local adaptation will be produced by Banijay’s Brainpool TV.

The format was also licensed in Czech Republic where it will air in 2017.

In addition, three pilots testing three different hosts have been produced in Italy by Banijay’s Magnolia TV.

Finally, Vivendi Entertainment has teamed up with Banijay and its local subsidiaries for options covering another 13 territories (in addition to Germany and Italy): the US, the UK, the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Russia, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Matthieu Porte, Vivendi Entertainment’s EVP International & Development, says “Guessing someone else’s age is a universal matter which we have perfectly packaged so that each episode brings nostalgia, suspense and emotion. It’s fantastic to nurture such a cool project from inception, and bring it to a simultaneous launch in such a large number of countries.”

Arnaud Renard, Vivendi Entertainment’s EVP Creative Affairs, explained: “From the very beginning, we believed GUESS MY AGE had the potential to become a global format. The show’s efficient and highly addictive gameplay speaks to every viewer from 7 to 99. That’s why so many broadcasters and producers fall in love with it.”

Franck Appietto, C8’s General Manager, said: “GUESS MY AGE’s success proves that risk taking can pay for broadcasters targeting savvy viewers looking for both fun and clever concepts.”

Frank Beckmann, ARD’s access prime head coordinator, added: “I’m looking forward to a new thrilling format in our access prime time. GUESS MY AGE will strongly enrich our already successful quiz show portfolio.”
